Dormouse | Little Cherishables
This is an adorable dormouse sleeping in it's nest. These figurines are either finished in a natural paint or in a bronze finish.
They come in a box that looks like a nest to make it the complete gift or collectable.
I love the Dormouse as it is quite different from our other mice. It has a plumper body, a fat fury tail and sleeps for six moths of the year. Just before Hibernating they stuff themselves so as to store plenty of fat which means they are very plump when they first go to sleep and this sculpting depicts one just at the beginning of its hibernation

Dormouse
The Dormouse comes in 2 finishes, Bronze effect and natural. Both finishes are hand painted and finished with matte, satin and gloss glazes to give a beautiful finish and has a felted base.
The photo of the Dormouse in a tea cup is for show, an idea of how to display your dormouse and was inspired by one of my customers which I think looks amazing.
NB. The bronze mouse is painted (not cold cast bronze) and the reason for this is I used to make cold cast bronzes but I never felt comfortable using resins due to the chemicals involved so I devised a more environmentally friendly method, plaster is a natural substance and it comes in variety of strengths and I use one of the hardest.
Also I use quality acrylic bronze paint used for painting miniatures which very realistic and then I highlight it and finish with an acrylic varnish.
I do this as everything is water based and environmentally friendly rather than using resins etc...
The finish is very realistic otherwise I wouldn't make it as I want customers to be happy with the figurine (see my reviews on Etsy).
The Bronze figurines are my best sellers at craft fairs.
